What is Tenants United?
A non-profit, non-partisan, financially independent organization of dues-paying tenants and allies across Greater Milwaukee.
Backed by Common Ground, we build power and work to ensure that all tenants are treated with dignity.
Why does Tenants United exist?
Because organizing is power, and tenants need power.
Milwaukee has many housing problems — segregation, poverty, out-of-state landlords, skyrocketing rents and ridiculous eviction rates.
Landlords are organized (trade associations, campaign contributions, lobbying, rent-setting algorithms).
Tenants should be too.
Public and private housing tenants should work together — alongside homeowner allies who want to help. Bad housing affects all of us.
